How we build a great company

As it looks now SelfieJobs will get off the shelf sometime late autumn. Still bugs to fix, limited marketing money and so on but we will fix that as we have met every other challenge and they have been plenty.  Here is a sketch on our anticipated lifecycle
1-Innovate and develop. Started late spring. Prior to this phase our founders had some key learnings. We found that it is possible to simplify recruitment and maintain relevant and depth. We sketch and do wire frames, check with clients and users. Prepitch to investors and develop code and designs. First version was cool early July but still not enough to launch. 1.1 development started and when we feel we have the right feel, team and timing...
2-One the launch is done we enter a phase called launch and iterate. Since we still run on ultralite budget we can afford to change the concept as we gain insight on usage and preference. We think we got it right from start but are open to changes in concept, target group and design. There is no doubt that this will succeed.
3-Expand and Explode. When we feel we have momentum and have shared love with the clients its time to expand. In this phase team and platform have found its way and we just need to scale. Sweden is not enough for sure if our guess is right:). Spotify is our inspiration in the start-up phase and  AirBnB in  the expansion phase.
4-Go Corporate but keep the startup culture.

SelfieJobs - Pre Launch Brief

SelfieJobs™ -Takes a European "Tinder for Jobs" approach, introducing ultrashort videopitches and location based search in race with Jobr, Monster.

Stockholm Sweden based SelfieJobs formed in May 2014 is now in private beta. The concept carries some resemblance to Jobr that had success when launched in June.
Still in pre-launch phase founder and serial entrepreneur Martin Tall reveals some features of the upcoming release;

"We Cant reveal to much prior to the launch but for sure we are on track to something great says Martin"  We have pitched to clients, investors and end users parallel with the development and received a lot of feedback as well as likes”.  First external investors to be announced coming month. We were amazed to be presented a multimillion dollar LOI by US investors even before the launch Martin Tall rounds up. A mix of Swedish angels and institutions is logic&likely being funded by the founders so far.

Some Words on our Vision

The vision with SelfieJobs is to take recruitment all mobile and make it a fun, easy experience to advertise or apply for jobs.  We want to make recruitment simple, fun and relevant compared with today's complex, administrative solutions. Why, this works fine all ready?  The young people hate it, the passwords, the long CV and so on. Our first step is to visualize let say 10 000 jobs in Sweden.

 Once we have launched details will come.  When  the model is proofed we will kickass in continental Europe a while before crossing the Atlantic. A Dreamproject would be to take SelfieJobs to the US (N.Y or Silicon Valley) to give it the same chance become a global star as Jobr.com and other great competitors. Introduction of the founders

Hi there , here is Martin. I'm the founder of SelfieJobs. Im proud to have a cool smart cofounder in Abby who will introduce him self later, also to be announced our an amazing software developer and upcoming great board . What have I done? Prior to SelfieJobs I have founded 3 startups in telecoms, outsourcing, finance as well as an employment agency. They have all been nice companies with momentum, a 20MUSD footprint and great learnings. I have also been signed as consultant specializing in business development and projects; I participated in taking BlackBerry to Sweden, contracted some key carriers for companies like Palm(HP)&Ironroad, worked with Business Intelligence for Vodafone and so on.  All great assignments. Long time ago I was best in Sales for Mobira(Nokia) and I had a few great years within Telenor Sweden (Business Development).  I'm an MBA (Civilekonom) from University of Stockholm .

Recruitment made simple

Asking any recruiter what they need to know to sign you to a new job  three areas of information requirements will come up in one form or another.

-Can he(she) do the work. Basically its about the skills necessary to solve the tasks given. In many cases its not that advanced . For young people on the site learning can quickly move the candidate up the knowledge ladder if they just get the chance.

-Will he love the work. This is about attitude and energy. Any candidate who passes #1 up must also posses the drive to love the task given. Employees use different techniques to see through promises of love. For them this is key since after contracting its very difficult to handle people without passion. To show the company true passion is key.

-Will he fit into the team. Finally before any final negotiation about the terms and salary they need to see how you fit into the team. Here past experiences and references to benchmark the candidate comes in.

From my perspective far to much leverage is given to #3 above in Sweden or Nordics. Social people will play games with the corporation. Most recruiters have their feeling about how candidates score in the scope above within 1-2 minutes in an interview. The rest is waste.and this also goes for 90% of the text in the CV.
This is especially relevant for entry level positions. Our challenge at SelfieJobs is to condensate the information given above and move things forward smarter , easier and more fun compared to current methods./Martin
